Gizem Acar

Gizem Dilber Acar, Ph.D.

Prof. Gizem D. Acar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. She earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Bogazici University in 2010 and 2012, respectively. She received her Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 2017, and worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Maryland until 2020. Her research interests include dynamics and vibrations with a focus on wind turbines, systems with noise, wave propagation in solids and metamaterials, and granular media. email: gizem.acar@stevens.edu

Graduate Students

Bing Wu

Bing Wu

Bing is a Ph.D. student majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Stevens University of Technology. He graduated from Zhengzhou University in 2019 with a degree in engineering mechanics. During his undergraduate years, he participated in research work on the "no-oar broadband wind turbine". During the undergraduate period, he won the Excellent Student Scholarship for two consecutive years. His research interests are Off-Shore wind turbines. email: bwu21@stevens.edu

Nisal H

Nisal Hettiarachchige

Nisal is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka in 2019, and his Master's degree in Science and Technology from Gunma University, Japan in 2022. Mahdi Y

Mahdi Yari

Mahdi is a Ph.D. student at the Stevens Institute of Technology with a focus on the implementation of meta-structures for vibration attenuation purposes. He received both his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Shiraz University, Iran where he worked on designing novel lattice structures. His research interests also lie in the field of mechanical metamaterials and periodic structures along with their real-life applications. email: myari@stevens.edu
